This level one Portuguese course is designed for beginner/novice speakers and learners. Portuguese 1 consists of the following elements of the language: speaking, listening, reading, writing and cultural awareness. The course is the first in a program designed to provide students with the language skills necessary for effective communication in Portuguese. It will prepare students for Portuguese 2: Novice – High. A sample of the language structures to be covered include: gender and number for nouns articles, adjectives, pronouns; regular verbs in the present tense; irregular verbs, prepositions indicating place and direction, the negative form and near future. During the course, the student will gain the language and language-learning skills necessary to achieve a novice-high level of proficiency.

Day(s) of Week: Tuesdays, 6:30 – 9:30pm 

Duration:  Sep 3 – Dec 10 

Location: North Campus

 

This level two Portuguese course is designed for novice speakers and learners. Portuguese 2 consists of the following elements of the language: speaking, listening, reading, writing and cultural awareness. The course is the second in a program designed to provide students with the language skills necessary for effective communication in Portuguese. It will prepare students for Portuguese 3: Intermediate – Low. A sample of the language structures to be covered include: the use of formal imperative commands, regular and irregular verbs in the present tense, object pronouns, and irregular verbs in the simple past tense. During the course, the student will gain the language and language-learning skills necessary to achieve an intermediate – low level of proficiency.
